A personalized path to recovery—rooted in identity, empowerment, and community

The LGBTQ Center is proud to launch our new Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) on April 21, 2025—a personalized, identity-affirming recovery experience intentionally designed for LGBTQ+ individuals and those navigating substance use. This 12-week program offers evidence-based care in a safe, affirming environment where healing and personal growth are not just possible, but fully supported.

Whether you're navigating substance use, rebuilding after relapse, or looking for a recovery program that truly sees and supports you, our IOP is here to meet you where you are.

About the Program

Our Intensive Outpatient Program provides structured support without requiring you to step away from your life. With three therapeutic sessions per week (totaling approximately nine hours), participants are able to maintain their work, school, or caregiving responsibilities while prioritizing their recovery.

Key features of the IOP include:

  • 12-week program with group and individual therapy
  • Focused support for LGBTQ+ and those navigating substance use
  • Evidence-based treatment methods
  • Flexibility to fit your schedule and daily life

What to Expect: Core Services and Support

Our IOP integrates multiple treatment modalities and holistic support services to promote long-term healing.

Therapeutic Approaches

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Identify and shift negative thought patterns.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Learn tools for emotional regulation, mindfulness, and healthy communication.
  • Motivational Interviewing: A collaborative, strengths-based approach to strengthen commitment to change.

Recovery Tools

  • Harm Reduction: Focused on safety and self-defined goals, not rigid abstinence models.
  • Contingency Management: Incentive-based system to celebrate recovery milestones.
  • Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT): Medical support to ease withdrawal and manage cravings.

Additional Support

  • Peer Support: Build community with others who share similar lived experiences.
  • Group & Individual Counseling: Gain insight, validation, and guidance through shared dialogue and one-on-one support.
  • Case Management: Personalized help navigating community resources, healthcare, housing, and more.
  • Urinalysis (UAs): Regular screenings to support accountability and progress tracking.

Personal Growth Integration

  • The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz:
    • Be impeccable with your word
    • Don’t take anything personally
    • Don’t make assumptions
    • Always do your best
