QVOLUTION YOUTH PROGRAM qVolution

QVolution is designed to meet the social, support, recreation, and development needs of LGBTQIA+ and ally youth, ages 13 to 24. We’re working to prepare our youth for the world and prepare the world for our youth! Youth Activity Nights in the Drop-in are supportive, educational, and social spaces for LGBTQIA+ & ally youth.

PIVOT Pivot
Wednesdays 6-7:30pm

Pivot encourages families to be more accepting of their children and stay together with healthy, positive outcomes. This 6-week group for youth and caregivers answers questions and provides support through a safe, confidential, constructive space to address fear and concerns about what it means to identify as LGBTQIA+, encourages personal growth and offers community to support individual journeys.

COMPREHENSIVE SEX EDUCATION

Youth ages 13 to 18 can receive (with parental consent) free sex education classes that cover contraception, consent, identity formation, and understanding of HIV/STI prevention, featuring the core values of abstinence, protection, and pregnancy prevention in an LGBTQIA+ inclusive and gender-neutral environment.

ACT III SENIOR DROP-IN Act III

The Center’s ACT III (Aging Communities Together) offers a safe, fun, inclusive space for adults 50 and up to enjoy activities, games, films, and education, with your peers. Senior Drop-in is free and welcome LGBTQIA+ and allied individuals.

MEN’S MONDAY GAME DAY

Game Day! Enjoy games with your old and new friends. Current popular games are canasta, Mexican dominoes, and Scrabble. Want to play something else? Introduce us to your favorite game!

WIZE WOMYN’S WEDNESDAY
12pm - 1pm
Enjoy games and music starting 10:30am, followed by a spirited discussion 12pm - 1pm.
First Wednesday is Ladies Luncheon. A speaker from the community presents on topics of interest to mature lesbians followed by a free lunch provided by The Center.

INCLUSIVE THURSDAYS

Featuring our FREE Lunch & Learn, where invited speakers present topics such as Las Vegas history, health and wellness, and local resources. Afterwards enjoy a free lunch provided by The Center.
Community Outreach & Advocacy
CENTER ADVOCACY NETWORK

Victim advocates provide confidential and non-judgmental support, education, resources, & referrals to on and off campus entities following experiences of interpersonal violence. Aiding a client with filing a protection order, calling a social service on behalf of a client, helping a family member or partner of a victim/ survivor find resources: these are examples of advocacy.

As a victim advocate you will be discussing options with a victim/ survivor and providing information, referrals, and support to victims/survivors of interpersonal violence, and their loved ones. You will be essential in helping to empower someone to make decisions, take action, and move through a crisis.

CULTURAL COMPETENCY TRAINING
The Center's knowledgeable program staff can lead a variety of cultural competency trainings for companies and organizations, on topics such as HIV, gender identity and the LGBTQIA community.

COMMUNITY INFORMATION & RESOURCE REFERRALS Our information and referral desk staff and volunteers happily provide information on topics such as LGBTQIA activities, support groups and organizations as well as referrals to public assistance, counselors, doctors, attorneys, churches and more.

FREE HIV TESTING AND COUNSELING
Mon–Thu 12-6pm, Fri-Sat 8am-2pm
The Center is proud to provide our community with access to the Arlene Cooper Wellness Clinic, where we offer free testing for HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. For anyone testing positive for an STI/STD, we provide treatment as well. (Last client at 5p).

HIV 101 (PREVENTION TRAINING)

This course provides an overview of essential facts about HIV/ AIDS, transmission, prevention, casual contact, testing procedures, state laws and regulations, medications, and services available to Clark County residents living with HIV/AIDS. The fee for court mandated participants is $50 (cash/money order) and a certificate of completion will be provided at the end of the class. (*Excluding holidays and special events, call to verify).

LIVING WELL
Every Tues 6–7pm
Living Well is a compassionate life support group for persons living with HIV/AIDS. All HIV-positive individuals are welcome to attend regardless of age, gender, or history of your HIV diagnosis. For more information, contact HIV Services at 702-733-9800.

MED-TIME
Every Last Tues 6–7pm
Med-Time, an HIV/AIDS health education dinner and learn program. The program provides an opportunity for positive individuals to learn about medication options and treatment adherence, as well as meet with a pharmacist one on one to review all of your medications. We welcome questions, and you may discuss any barriers you are experiencing or any problems accessing your medication. There is no charge to attend.

The Ryan White program provides assistance for those living with HIV; This can include assistance for medication, doctor visits, and labs.
AFFIRMATIONS
Community Counseling Center provides mental health and substance use counseling for all LGBTQIA+ identified people, their family, loved ones, and allies, with respect, support, and validation for personal identity. Call to set appts: 702-369-8700.

NAME & GENDER MARKER CHANGE WORKSHOP

Assistance filling out applications for name and gender marker changes for gender identity! We are not currently holding inperson workshops, but are partnering with Nevada Legal Services to assist with name changes remotely, and coordinating through individual appointments for those who do not qualify for NLS Services, anyone making over 200% of the poverty line. Start by submitting an intake with NLS, contact nwarner@thecenterlv.org with questions and individual help.

THE SWITCH CLOSET

Open to everyone! 10 item limit. The Switch Closet is The Center’s more comfortable and easily accessible way to access clothing that fits the communities stylistic needs. Clothing in The Switch Closet is completely free.

The Switch Closet strengthens the surrounding low to moderate income LGBTQ+ communities by fostering their freedom to authentically express themselves through fashion. The Switch Closet is available at no cost and is supported by donations of brand new or gently used articles of clothing which include: pants, jeans, under garments/socks (new only), blouses/shirts, dresses & business attire.
