Representatives from the Las Vegas Okinawan Club, Southern Nevada Asian Pacific Island Queer Society (SNAPIQS), and United Territories of Pacific Islanders (UTOPIA) Las Vegas recently traveled to Washington D.C. for EducAsian advocacy week, hosted by the Asian Community Development Council (ACDC). This trip, held in conjunction with AANHPI Heritage Month, was an opportunity to advocate for better visibility and representation for our community.
During the visit, they had a significant meeting at Congresswoman Susie Lee's office. They discussed the donation of an updated version of the LGBTQIA+ flag, which better represents the diversity within our community. With the support of Angelica Villarta from Congresswoman Lee’s office, we are excited to announce that this donation event is scheduled for June 10, Monday.
We are extending an invitation to all friends, allies, and supporting organizations to join us in this celebration. The event will be held at the Windmill Library in Las Vegas, providing a safe space for all attendees. The following organizations have confirmed their participation:
