National Health Center Week (August 3-9, 2025) was an opportunity to highlight the commitment and passion of Community Health Center staff, board members, and supporters who make it possible to provide quality, comprehensive healthcare services to more than 32.5 million patients across nearly 16,000 communities annually.
In recognition of National Health Center Week, we offered The LGBTQ Center’s Health & Wellness Challenge, which was a “call to action” to take control of your overall health. Each day on our social media sites, we focused on a different activity to improve your health outcomes, which opened the door for conversations on implementing small changes into your daily life. The Center staff provided videos to accompany each post. The daily health challenges were:
• Take a 30-minute walk
• Mediate for 10-15 minutes
• Add 2-3 cups of vegetables to your meals
• Read a good book for one hour
• Drink 64 oz of water throughout the day
• Schedule regular checkups
• Prioritize 7-9 hours of sleep
To culminate the week’s posts on healthier activities, we hosted a community event on August 8th called HEALTH HAPPY HOUR to celebrate the work of local health centers, the communities we serve, and our journeys to living healthier lives. The event included local health centers and vendors providing resourceful information, health screenings including vision and blood pressure checks, catered food and music from DJ Shorty2K. HEALTH HAPPY HOUR was highly praised by the participants, who indicated the need for this type of event to happen more frequently.
The LGBTQ Center, along with its two health clinics, are proud to be a part of a community of health centers who are attentive to the needs of the people. We are inspired by your dedication. We are grateful for your participation. Our vision is to continue to live and thrive as our authentic selves through education, support, advocacy, and healthcare for all.
