Earlier this month, our Linkage to Care team had the opportunity to join the LIMA Program, a powerful initiative rooted in compassionate policing and life changing outcomes.

LIMA, which stands for Law Enforcement Intervention for Mental Health and Addiction, works to redirect individuals away from the justice system and into community-based treatment and support. By focusing on recovery, stability, and long term care, the program offers participants a meaningful second chance through 9 to 12 months of structured treatment and connection to services.

Our Linkage to Care Coordinators joined community members, service providers, and local organizations to share resources, build relationships, and strengthen our collective impact across Las Vegas. These gatherings are always a valuable reminder of the depth of support available in our valley, from mental health services and substance use prevention programs to diversion resources, education opportunities, local food vendors, musicians, and more.

We were especially proud to have Ron Schnese, The LGBTQ+ Center’s Linkage to Care Coordinator, speak to attendees about our Empowerlink program.

Through Empowerlink, we envision a future where every person who uses drugs experiences compassionate, inclusive support. Our team meets people where they are, connecting them to detox and treatment centers, medical and mental health providers, peer support, overdose prevention tools, recovery housing, workforce readiness programs, food resources, and more. We are committed to reducing barriers and ensuring care happens in safe, welcoming spaces that honor dignity and autonomy.

Empowerlink also supports our community by gathering important data about substances currently circulating in Las Vegas. Community members can anonymously drop off used items such as small bags or smoking tools with Ron at The Center. Safety and privacy are always our top priority.

We are grateful to LIMA and to all the organizations working alongside us to create a more connected, compassionate Las Vegas. When we collaborate, we strengthen the safety net for everyone.
