On Sunday, June 21, The LGBTQ+ Center of Las Vegas was honored to welcome families, friends, community partners, and neighbors from across Southern Nevada for our 2026 Juneteenth Block Party. Together, we celebrated freedom, culture, resilience, and the strength of our community in an afternoon filled with music, food, games, and connection.
This year's celebration was our biggest yet, with an incredible turnout and more families joining us than ever before. From the moment the festivities began, our campus was alive with laughter, dancing, and fellowship as people of all ages came together to celebrate.

Guests enjoyed classic cookout games including spades, dominoes, giant Jenga, tonk, Uno, and Connect Four, creating opportunities for friendly competition and lasting memories.
Throughout the day, DJs Blvck Sam and NotABoi DJ from Power 88.1 kept the energy high with timeless classics, crowd-favorite sing-alongs, and dances that brought everyone together.
Our community also showed up to support local Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs. More than eight Black-owned vendors and food trucks participated in this year's event, helping showcase the incredible talent and entrepreneurship found throughout Southern Nevada. Guests enjoyed delicious food from Plate to Palette Catering, along with local favorites Shay's Wave, Layered Healthy Parfaits, and Classic Treats N More.

This celebration would not have been possible without the partnership of House of Vegas Pride and Nevada Black Pride. Their collaboration helped make this year's event a meaningful celebration that reflected the power of community working together.

The Meaning Behind Juneteenth
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that enslaved African Americans were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been issued. It stands as a powerful reminder that freedom was delayed for many and that the pursuit of equality and justice continues today.
Now recognized as a federal holiday, Juneteenth is both a celebration of liberation and an opportunity to reflect on our shared history. It honors the resilience, achievements, and contributions of Black communities while encouraging ongoing conversations about equity, inclusion, and belonging.
At The Center, we believe that building stronger communities means celebrating the many identities, histories, and lived experiences that make us who we are. Events like our Juneteenth Block Party create spaces where people can connect, support one another, and celebrate the diversity that strengthens Southern Nevada.
To everyone who attended, volunteered, performed, partnered, and supported this year's event, thank you for making it such a joyful and memorable celebration. We look forward to celebrating with you again next year.
