The Center Becomes Nevada’s First Non Profit Recovery Friendly Workplace

In partnership with the Foundation for Recovery, the Center proudly announces their participation as Nevada’s first Non Profit Recovery Friendly Workplace (RFW).

This past April, Governor Sisolak announced his endorsement and the launch of the Nevada Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative to be housed at the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The initiative aims to reduce the stigma of substance use and encourages workplaces to support treatment and recovery. It is designed to give employers the support and resources needed to implement recovery-friendly practices and provide support for employees in recovery and those impacted by Substance Use Disorder (SUD).

“Having the Center as one of our early adopters for the Nevada RFW is a BIG win!” said Samantha Steele, Recovery-Friendly Workplace Ambassador for the Foundation for Recovery. “We understand the statistics of the Center’s clients for substance use disorder, mental health challenges, and suicide are very high. Being able to have a supply of overdose prevention kits and fentanyl testing strips open to the public in that area is a blessing in itself.”

The initiative connects participating employers to resources and provides guidance and support from program ambassadors as they implement recovery-oriented practices within the workplace, including free and customized staff training and resources to support employees.

“The Foundation for Recovery (FFR) and The Center have been collaborating for years to better serve our community,” said the Center’s CEO, John Waldron. “Being a part of this paradigm shift is a logical next step in our partnership. We are grateful for the opportunity to help implement more resources and support for those in need.”
